Accor
Vacation Club (AVC)
The Accor Vacation Club, or AVC for short (used to be call Accor Premiere
Vacation Club or APVC), has been developed by Accor as it's version of
the holiday ownershop concept. As with the Worldmark club the AVC is regulated
as a Managed Investment Scheme registered with ASIC but again it is important
to note that the club is intended to provide lifestyle benefits and is
not intended as a financial investment.
The AVC is not as large as the Worldmark club but in the last year or
so has been heavily promoted and therefore recently has had quite rapid
growth in the number of members. As of December 2007 there were approximately
21600 owners in AVC (this was an increase of over 4200 members during
the previous 12 months).
The main benefits or the club are:
- Buy buying a membership you are basically buying the right to use
the properties in the Accor Vacation Club through to the year 2080.
So basically you own your future holidays instead of renting them each
year.
- Unlike traditional timeshare you are not restricted to a set week
or a set location - you can choose your resort location, length of stay,
size of apartment and time of year and this can be different each year.
- For more choices you can join Interval International to swap your
points for accomodation in literally thousands of resorts all around
the world or for other holiday options such as cruises.
- You can save your credits for up to 2 years or borrow from the following
year to enable you to have a bigger holiday.
- As well as using your credits you can use Bonus Time
to make reservations at short notice using cash instead of credits.
- If you can't use your credits in a particular year you can make a
reservation for relatives or friends or even make a booking and rent
the room.
- Your holiday investment is protected as all club properties are fully
owned and are completely free of any mortgages.
